Description
These cotton quilts are lovely, handcrafted textiles that are warm, thick, and cozy. Made by the Chakhesang Women’s Welfare Society, a renowned organization established in 1976, these quilts represent more than just comfort; they are a testament to the empowerment of local women in the villages of Phek District, Nagaland, Northeast India.
The Chakhesang Women’s Welfare Society serves over 3,000 small villages, primarily inhabited by the Chakhesang tribe, through various community development projects in farming, weaving, tailoring, and micro-financing. They also support initiatives in community health and education. Recently, they launched a tailoring course with professional designers, training a dozen young potential designers from their villages.
Each quilt reflects the rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the Chakhesang women. By bringing one into your home, you support sustainable and ethical production practices, making it a beautiful and meaningful addition to your decor.
