An eight-week immersion in traditional textile making — from raw fibre to finished form, at Heenat Salma Farm.
AN INVITATION
Set within the environment of Heenat Salma Farm, this experience brings together Sadu weaving, Kilim weaving, wool preparation, and natural dyeing into one continuous, hands-on journey.
Participants will work closely with materials, tools, and techniques — developing both practical skills and a deeper understanding of craft, culture, and sustainability.
This is a small-group programme designed for focused learning and direct engagement.

The Programme
Each stage builds on the last. By the final week, you’ll have followed wool from raw fleece all the way to a finished, dyed, woven sample.

Weeks 1–2
Rooted in Bedouin heritage, Sadu weaving introduces you to traditional techniques, loom setup, and foundational patterns. The journey begins with understanding rhythm, structure, and cultural context — the discipline that underlies every woven piece that follows.

WEEKS 3–4
Building on the basics, you explore Kilim weaving — focusing on geometric composition, pattern
development, and structural variation. This is where
technique starts to become expression.

WEEKS 5–6
Before weaving, the material itself is understood.
You learn how to wash, card, and spin raw wool —
gaining first-hand insight into the transformation
from fibre to yarn.

WEEKS 7–8
The final stage introduces natural dyeing techniques using sustainable plant-based sources. You prepare and dye your own hand-spun yarn — completing thefull cycle of making.
Outcomes
Skills, materials, and a foundation you can keep building on long after the programme ends.
