Heenat Salma Open Mic Sessions are intimate, curated evenings dedicated to original music and live performance, set within the natural landscape of the farm. These sessions offer emerging and independent musicians a space to share their work in a setting that values presence, listening, and authenticity over spectacle Rooted in community and creative exchange, the Open Mic Sessions invite artists and audiences to slow down, gather, and experience music as it is meant to be heard.

Call for Musicians & Original Sound

Heenat Salma invites musicians, singers, instrumentalists, and small ensembles to apply for our weekend Open Mic Sessions. 

Performances take place in an open-air, intimate environment designed to support live, original music and meaningful artistic expression. 

  • Days: Weekends 
  • Time: From sunset  
  • Programme: Multiple solo artists and/or groups performing short original sets 
  • Setting: Outdoor, community-oriented, unplugged or light amplification 
  • Solo performers 
  • Duos, trios, or small ensembles 
  • Vocalists and instrumentalists 

Through the Farm to School programme, students: 

  • Experience sustainability and creativity where they learn 
  • Understand how nature and community are interconnected 
  • Build awareness of ethical living and mindful creation 
  • Cultivate pride and care for their local environment 

All submissions are carefully reviewed. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted with further performance details. 

Screening & Selection

How We Curate

Applications are reviewed by the Heenat Salma programming team with care and intention. Selection is based on: 

  • Original music only 
  • Ability to perform live 
  • Suitable for a mixed-age public audience 
  • Musical coherence and originality 
  • Strength of composition and arrangement 
  • Vocal or instrumental proficiency 
  • Authentic and sincere expression 
  • Respectful lyrical and performative content 
  • Harmony with a natural, community-oriented setting 
  • Ability to perform within a 20–30 minute slot 
  • Minimal technical requirements 
  • Group size appropriate to the venue 

Submission does not guarantee selection. Line-ups are curated to ensure balance and flow across each evening.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Original Work All performances must consist solely of original compositions. Covers, remixes, or copyrighted material owned by third parties are notpermitted. 
  2. Selection& Programming Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Heenat Salma reserves full discretion over selection, scheduling, and programme structure.  
  3. Performance Duration Selected artists will be assigned a fixed time slot, which must be respected to ensure smooth programme flow. 
  4. Content Standards Performances must beappropriate fora public, family-friendly environment. Content that is offensive, discriminatory, or disruptive will not be permitted.  
  5. Technical SetupHeenatSalma will provide basic sound support where possible. Artists are responsible for their own instruments and special technical requirements unless agreed in advance. 
  6. Recording & DocumentationHeenatSalma reserves the right to photograph, audio-record, or video-record performances for documentation and non-commercial promotional use, with credit given to the artist. 
  7. Compensation Unless explicitlystated, performances are unpaid and considered part of a community cultural programme.
  8. Cancellations Selected artists must informHeenatSalma promptly if they are unable to perform. Repeated no-shows may affect future participation. 
  9. Acceptance of Terms Submission of an application constitutes full acceptance of these terms and conditions.
